Obituary For Albert H Meyer
Albert Harold Meyer was born on July 4th, 1943 and passed away peacefully early morning July 5th 2022 after living 79 great years. Albert was born near Nisland S.D. to Dave and Alma Meyer. Alma was topping beets on that 4th of July when she left the field, shortly after giving birth to Albert in the family homestead. Albert attended High School in Belle Fourche where he held the SD State Record for many years in the Discus and Shotput events and was an avid football player. He went on to college and ended up in Colorado for several years as a Draftsmen for the Forest Service in Denver. While he was in Colorado, he spent much of his time skiing in the Rockies and talked about it often. Albert returned to SD and was set up on a blind date with Margaret Jorensen. Two years later that blind date became a marriage that lasted a lifetime. Albert and Margaret have three sons David, Mathew, and TJ. Albert’s career took him to Ellsworth AFB where he stayed until retirement. Although Albert was never in the military, he was proud to be a civil servant, serving his country for the 28th Civil Engineering Squadron. Albert was a proud Father, loving Husband, and devout Christian. He raised his children with an Iron Fist backed with a heart of love. He was a great influence on many of his boys’ friends as well, they speak highly of him often. Albert loved taking walks with his wife Margaret, playing with their dog Dama and having the whole family over for a BBQ. Albert had many pastime activities, and he always included his family. He loved to golf, he loved spending time on the course, and he loved spending time with his kids on the course. He helped a great deal with high school golf and took many road trips to tournaments over the high school years. He loved fly fishing just about as much as he did golf and was a great teacher at both. He loved to hunt deer in the Black Hills. Deer hunting to Albert was road hunting. It was a good cup of coffee, eating the candy from his boy’s Halloween haul, jerky from the previous year’s harvest and a slow drive through the fire trails looking for deer. He was often spotted at auctions and garage sales where he was hunting a good deal, a neat trinket, or just a piece of history gone by. If he could dicker for something to make an extra buck or two it was a good day. He loved his family too, his parents, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. When his parents were alive Albert and his family spent many weekends in Belle Fourche and on the Jorensen Ranch East of Tilford.
