Obituary For Alvin O Albrecht

Alvin O. Albrecht, 92, Rapid City, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, at his home. He was born November 16, 1925, at Trosky, Minnesota, to Thomas and Irene (Mitchell) Albrecht. He grew up in the Pipestone, Minnesota area and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1943. He traveled to California to work in the orchards until he enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1945. He was a Technician Fourth Grade in the 802 Engineers AVN Battalion. He was sent overseas in October of 1945, to serve in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the Japan Occupational Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon. He was discharged from the service in December of 1946. He returned to the Pipestone, Minnesota area and married Eunice L. Weigel on June 10, 1949, at Flandreau, South Dakota. The couple resided in Pipestone, Minnesota, until December of 1957, when they moved to Rapid City. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for various companies in Rapid City, until he retired in 1991. He opened his small rock shop south of Hermosa, South Dakota, in 1993, where he enjoyed sharing his love of rocks with many people for the next 22 years. He served as a Rapid City Councilman for eight years and was an active member of local rock and mineral club.

Survivors include his two daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Albrecht, Hermosa, South Dakota and Susan (Sue) Pennel, Black Hawk, South Dakota; One granddaughter, Rikki Wille of Townsend, Montana, and two great granddaughters, MaKayla Wille of Norfolk, Virginia, and Jessi Hamlen of Townsend, Montana, all of whom will greatly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and his wife, Eunice.
