Obituary For Ardis R. Wilcox

Ardis R. Wilcox, 86, of Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, March, 3, 2018. She was born on April 3, 1931 on a farm in Soldier Township, Monona County, Iowa. She was the only child of Herbert and Rose (Schmidt) Gibbs.

She attended grade school and high school in Iowa. After high school graduation in 1949, she went to Business College in Omaha, Nebraska for a year. She worked in Omaha as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk where she met her husband, Dean. They were married on December 4, 1953. Her husband was in the United States Air Force and she followed him to many overseas assignments. Their son, Timothy was born in Germany and their daughter, Cheryl in England. In 1973, they moved to Rapid City, SD after Dean retired from the USAF.

She was very active in sports with her husband. They enjoyed golfing, archery, bowling, and hunting. For three years, she was the secretary of an archery league and bowled on two senior bowling leagues with her husband, Dean.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dean; Son, Timothy and his wife, Terri of Parker, CO; Daughter, Cheryl Trobec and her husband, Mike of Highlands Ranch, CO; Two grand-daughters, Nicole Wilcox of Parker, CO and Shantel (Wilcox) Appel of Evergreen, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 uncles, 4 aunts, and one cousin.
