Aurora's name was a suggestion to Ian and Skye by Mary McRae. Her middle name, Storm, was chosen years prior by her mother, Skye when she was a young girl. After choosing this as her name it was then found to have a lot of meaning, that her parents did not realize at the time.

The aurora borealis is an electric magnetic storm in the atmosphere caused by the sun, coincidentally the planet of her mother’s astrological sign, Leo and also tying in her middle name, Storm. Aurora was also the goddess that brought the dawn, or the morning sun and her grandmother Christine Shaffer’s middle name is Dawn. Aurora is also the Disney princess Sleeping Beauty’s name, and she was definitely daddy’s princess. All of these connections were made to her name after her parents chose it, and so it seemed meant to be the name for little Miss Aurora Storm McRae.
