Obituary For Barbara M. Pennel
Barbara Maurine (Lynde) Pennel, 88, Rapid City died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at Fountain Springs Healthcare. She was born Nov. 11, 1922 to Allen and Lyla (Hill) Lynde in Peterson, Iowa. Barbara worked as a Linotype operator for the Rapid City Journal for 38 years before retiring. She loved reading, knitting, crocheting, roses, gardening and wrestling, from Texas Wrestling to WWF. MOM, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE YEARS OF GIVING AND SELFLESSNESS. FROM YOUR SONS, DAUGHTERS AND GRANDCHILDREN. Barbara is survived by her children, Pat, Rapid City; Kevan (Rochelle), Jacksonville, FL; Kelton (Cathy), Rapid City; Terry (Sue), Piedmont; Dannette Pennel, Rapid City; brothers, Robert (Donna) Lynde and Donald (Norma) Lynde and her sisters, Verna Heckert and Virginia Pennel. ‘G.G.’ as she was known to her grandchildren is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren O. Pennel, Sept. 30, 1998 and her son Dan. Barbara’s wishes were that no funeral service be held. A graveside farewell will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at Black Hills National Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Baum officiating. Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements and condolences may be conveyed to the family at www.behrenswilson.com.
