Barry Leon Wiechmann of Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 75. After several months of declining health, Barry passed away peacefully at home, with his beloved wife Carol by his side. The world has lost a great brother, father, husband, friend and most of all Papa.

Barry was born in Bloomfield, Nebraska on February 4, 1947, to Harold and Hazel (Greckel) Wiechmann. He was the youngest of four brothers. As a young man at the age of 10, he moved with his family to Rapid City and worked with his father learning various trades that he would continue to use and pass down for the rest of his life. In 1967 Barry joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Though he did not like to take credit for his time served, he will always be a hero to those who loved him. Leaving the Military in 1969 he moved back to Rapid City until 1980. From 1980-1988 he lived in Midland, South Dakota doing various construction jobs and having his own woodworking shop. From 1988-1989 he lived in Philp, South Dakota working at Scotchman Industries, Inc. and returned to Rapid City in 1990 to spend the rest of his time.

Barry met and married Lana Summerlin and was blessed with two children, Shawn and Shannon. Later he married Sheri Saucerman and with that union was blessed with two daughters, Noel and Raquel. On July 4, 1998, Barry married the love of his life Carol Weaver. He lived a life with no regrets. When once asked, what advice would you give to your teenage self, his response was “Nothing, you have to go through the s%!& to get to where you are today.”

Barry was a carpenter, but truly a man of all trades and a collector. He was the happiest when he was collecting junk and rummaging with his family and friends. One thing he always wanted to do was have his own estate sale and in 2021 he accomplished this dream. Barry loved building homes of which he built many, though his true joy was when he started his legacy of the Lindy Lodge in 2003 where he spent every year making sure we held a family reunion. He loved his family. If you asked him, his greatest pride was without a doubt his grandchildren. He will always be known as the best Papa.

Greeting Barry in Heaven are his brother Jerry Wiechmann, grandson Tyrel Taylor, father Harold Wiechmann, mother Hazel Wiechmann, mother-in-law Shirley Weaver, brother-in-law Les Braaten, niece Kristin Wiechmann, father-in-law Albert Weaver, sister-in-law Brenda Wiechmann.

Barry was survived by his wife Carol Weaver, son Shawn (Marcy) Wiechmann, daughter Shannon (Bill) Tucker, daughter Noel (Devlon) Vohlken, daughter Raquel (Lance) Croell, grandchildren Annabella, Calla, Carter, Cooper and Delilah, brother Terry Wiechmann, brother Dean (Wanda) Wiechmann, sister-in-law Linda Weaver-Braaten, brother-in-law Jim (Bernetta) Weaver, brother-in-law John (Pam) Weaver and numerous nieces and nephews.
