Obituary For Carey D. Jacox

Carey D. Jacox (70) of Rapid City passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 at Monument Hospital after a prolonged illness.

He was born May 23, 1953 in Bassett, Nebr. to Lloyd and Lillian Jacox. He graduated from Central High School in Rapid City in 1971. He would then work for Plummer Piano, North American Van Lines travelling the US, Servall, Mayflower Moving Company and the Club for Boys. His greatest achievements were watching his two boys grow up and becoming fathers themselves and watching his grandkids grow up. He was known as Papa Carey.

Carey would give anyone his shirt off his back, a place to sleep and food if you needed it. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Survivors include two brothers Lloyd (Alene) Jacox of Scottsbluff, Nebr. and Darrel Jacox of Rapid City, SD and one sister Cheryl Jacox of Rapid City SD; two sons Jeremy (Heidi) Coyle, Brandon (Crystal) Freeman; grandkids – Tori, Paige, Gavin, Brysan, and Peighton, and many more loved ones and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Lillian, two brothers Leslie Loren and Allen James, one sister Carol Gagnebin and a special nephew Leslie and grandsons Austin Freeman and Tavey Coyle.
