Obituary For Charles David Kouba

Charles David Kouba passed away from natural causes on October 20, 2020 at Rapid City, SD. He was seventy years old.

Chuck was born to Charles H. Kouba and Helen (Jesch) Kouba on November 6, 1949, the first of seven children. He grew up on the family farm near Regent, ND.

After graduating from Regent Public High School in 1968, he served in the National Guard for six years and worked with his father and brothers on the farm raising small grains and hogs.

He married Gerri Morland in 1971 and from this union was their son, Shad.

Chuck embarked on many endeavors. He was owner of Mikes Bar and Chuck’s Upholstery, both in Regent. He received his airplane mechanics degree at Cheyenne Aero Tech and was an equipment salesman with Case IH in Bowman, ND. Chuck could be seen flying around the area in his powered parachute.

He met Debbie Olson in Bowman, where they later started a small business called Dancing Needles Embroidery. Chuck and Debbie were married on September 19,1999. The couple, along with his son, Shad, moved to Rapid City, SD to operate the business they purchased on October 1, 1999 called Ponderosa Sportswear Screen Printing & Embroidery. They owned the business until his retirement in 2013.

Chuck became a proud owner of the perfect motorhome in 2015 and he and Debbie spent the last five years enjoying winters in Arizona.

Chuck was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie and son Shad along with three brothers and two sisters: Bruce (Janice), Ken (Linda), Brian, Paulette (Gary) Peters, and Lunette (Reed) Dobitz, many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and mother-in-law Barb Olson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Llewellyn Kouba and father-in-law, Denny Olson.
