Obituary For Christopher LeRoy Runnalls

Christopher LeRoy Runnalls

January 12, 1955 – March 31, 2023

Christopher “Kitt” Runnalls passed away on March 31 2023 at Monument Health Rapid City from pancreatic cancer.

Chris was born in Rapid City on January 12, 1955 to Jacob Samuel Runnalls III and Eleanor (Chambers) Runnalls.

Except for a short stint in the US Army in Alaska and various jobs out of state Chris stayed pretty close to Rapid City all his life taking care of his mother until her passing in 2006.

Chris’s hobbies included a little of everything from photography, to prospecting and metal detecting to volksmarches (German hikes thru the woods) as his health allowed; and in his later years reading and sewing.

Chris’s corneas were donated so to help others see, he also donated gallons of blood throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by his father Jacob S. Runnalls III, his mother Eleanor Newell (Chambers) Runnalls and his older brother Jacob S. Runnalls IV. He is survived by two younger sisters, Eleanor Perez (David) niece Kristina (Aaron), grandnephews Gabriel and Nicolas and nephew Daniel Perez all of Sulphur, LA and Louisa Runnalls of Saint Robert, MO plus numerous cousins.

So sad to see this today. He was a blood donor and we had many good conversations. I will truly miss Chris - Posted by Karë on April 8, 2023

I was so sorry to hear this news. I went to school with his sister Eleanor and spent many weekends at their home. His mom always welcomed me into their kitchen, she was always baking something wonderful. Kitt was rather quiet in his younger years. I have very fond memories of him and his family. Eleanor was like a sister to me. My heart goes out to all of you. Take care, Kathy (DeFord) Horsley - Posted by Kathy Horsley on April 18, 2023
