Obituary For Clifford Merel Larive

Clifford Merel Larive was born to Arthur and Matilda (Tillie) Larive on September 5, 1933. After a short stay at Avantara North under Hospice care, he went to join his wife, Linda in heaven on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the age of 85. Cliff proudly served his country as a Marine Sergeant for 8 years. After serving he was an Over-the-Road truck driver where he met the love of his life, Linda. He moved his family to Rapid City, where he eventually went to work at Ellsworth Air Force Base as a mechanic at the base station until retirement. He then went to work at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center until a couple of months ago. Cliff loved camping with family, hunting with his grandson Steven and fishing with Linda and his daughter Deb. He and Linda would sell goods at flea markets, and they enjoyed playing Bingo. Cliff also was a pseudo father for his nephew Trent, teaching him many things and keeping his father’s memory alive. He also loved family holidays and barbeques. He was grumpy at these gatherings, but deep down we all knew he cherished these times. Clifford is survived by five sisters, Shirley Frasier and Alice Pattinson, both of Spearfish; Rose Konola, Clifton, CO; Julia Roadifer, Spokane, WA and Patty Duncan, Ajo, AZ; his children, William Lee (Jennifer), Rapid City; Peggy Smart (John), Texas; Debora (Sonny Trautman), Rapid City and Jeanette Graves (Keith), Gillette, WY; Becky Ludlow (Bill) and Arthur. He had many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Matilda (Tillie) Larive, five brothers, Lloyd, George, Robert, Francis and Donald; a sister, Elsie Mae Trebelock and his great grandson John “John John” William Whipple.
