Point, Georgia, at the age of 80. Born on January
7, 1944, in Moreland, Georgia, he was a lifelong
resident of the state and cherished its rich, natural
beauty - a passion reflected in his love for fishing.

Henry Sam dedicated many years of service to
companies such as Graybar, Wright-Lopez and
Ansco, contributing diligently to each role he
undertook. Fishing was not just a hobby but a
reflection of his calm and patient demeanor, often
spending hours by the water, which brought him
immense peace and joy!

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished
memories with his family. He is survived by his
children, Correta Brown of College Park, GA,
Edward Thornton (Shirley) of Hinesville, GA,
Jerry Thornton of Atlanta, GA, and Debry Smith
(Curry) of Riverdale, GA, his sisters Mattie
Rosser (John), Eula Nesbit, Ollie Parks, and
brothers Thomas and Curtis Thornton also survive
him.

Henry Sam was a proud grandfather to nine
grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren,
all of whom he adored deeply. His extended
family includes numerous nieces, nephews and a
host of friends who will miss his warm
conversations and spontaneous road trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel
and Bessie Thornton, his brothers Robert and
James Thornton and sisters Mary Ann Heard and
Betty Jean Owens.

Sewell Mortuary is honored to be entrusted with providing end-of-life services to the family of Samuel T. Thornton.
