Obituary For Dawn Judity Daberry

Dawn Daberry was born May 25, 1934 to George and Helen Dunkle in Hamburg, PA. Out of high school she joined the Air Force where she was stationed at Mather AFB, Sacramento, CA. There she met and married Edward Guse Jr. and from that union two daughters were born.

In 1973 she married John David Daberry. They enjoyed spending summers at Pactola Lake on their pontoon, the Delta Dawn. They were married 26 years until John’s passing.

She found love and happiness once again with Gordon Fletcher. They enjoyed traveling and took several trips to New Zealand and also visited Spain. They were a couple almost 10 years until Gordons passing.

In her younger years as a military wife she lived in several states and also overseas, including Okinawa and Guam. She came to Ellsworth AFB in 1970 and moved to Deming NM in the 80’s so she and John could care for her parents. Dawn remained in NM until 2007 when she returned to Rapid City, SD.

It was said she was a hoot. She had a big smile and generous heart. She loved animals and had volunteered at the Deming Humane Society. Her soft spot was for schnauzers. She provided a home to several throughout the years. When one passed it wouldn’t be long before she had another.

She was affectionately known as GG, short for great grandma. But how blessed was she to see the 5th generation come along changing that to GGG.

She is survived by her sister Sandee Turnage and nephew Gregg of Youngstown, Ohio; Cousins David (Melanie) Dunkle and family of Florida; Larry (Sheila) Dunkle of PA and Florida.

Surviving family in Rapid City are daughters Dawn Renee Coyle and Brenda (Blair) Bonham; grandson Jamason Tracy and granddaughter Melissa (Jeremy) Boehrns; Great grandchildren Rainen (Tyler), Ireland, Ryley, and Essence; Great-great grandchildren Zaiden, and Nova; many special friends. And last but loved as much, her schnauzer mix, Bella

She passed December 25, 2017 at Hospice House and was laid to rest January 2, 2018 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in a private family gathering per her wishes.
