Obituary For Denise M Cayton

Denise Marie (Ohlrogge) Lopez Cayton, 65, of Rapid City, went peacefully into Heaven on August 21, 2023. She was the third child of Betty (Lien) and Duane Ohlrogge. She was born on August 6, 1958, in Chamberlain, (Brule County) SD. She came home to greetings from her older siblings, Cathy, and Mike. Denise was a happy-go-lucky baby. A couple of years later Anita was born.

We moved to the Black Hills about 4 years later. Cathy, Mike and Denise delivered the Rapid City Journal. Mike and Denise rode horse to deliver the paper. (Spooky)

After we moved to Piedmont in the Black Hills, Dad (Duane) started buying horses, one for everyone. Mike, Denise, and Michele had a love for horses also. Denise had a few mishaps along the way. She had a green pickup and the horse at that time (her name was Sugar) would load herself- no side rail and the tail gate down and in she went. After graduation she went to Custer State Park and took people on scenic trail rides. Later Denise found a good paying job in Idaho at the INL.

She met Mike Lopez. They married and had 5 girls, Nikki, Tisha, and Lisa (twins), Miquelynn, and Kimberley. Denise and Mike got divorced and Denise moved to Rapid City. She met Collon Cayton and they married and had a son named Aaron.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Aaron Cayton; husband, Collon Cayton; 2 nephews, James Hemsher and Bryan Ohlrogge, 1 brother-in-law, Frank Hemsher; grandma, Enger Gramm; and sister Anita Ohlrogge.

Denise is survived by daughters, Nikki, Tisha, Lisa, Miquelynn and Kimberley and their children; sisters, Cathy Hemsher, Michele Ohlrogge; brother, Mike Ohlrogge, and numerous aunt, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Ohlrogge family....So sorry for your loss. Such great memories when we were young...all of those blonde, blonde kids. I will never forget your dad's panel van and the smell of cigars and ice cream cones later. Rest in peace, Denise....... Bless you all....Cousin Mary - Posted by Mary Fenenga VanTreeck on September 4, 2023
