Obituary For Dexter Reed Johnson

Dexter R. Johnson, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the age of 68.

Dexter Reed Johnson was born October 4, 1949 in Brookings, South Dakota. He was the second eldest of four children born to the late Harvey and Lorraine (Hevle) Johnson. His eldest brother Jeffrey preceded him in death. Dexter attended Brookings High School and went on to graduate with a Business degree from Dakota State College (now Dakota State University) in 1975.

Dexter’s career was spent in the fields of business and management and he retired in 2011 from McDonald Supply in Rapid City, South Dakota. Over the years, outside of work, Dex coached soccer, enjoyed playing golf, loved to spend time sitting in the sun with a good book and has played thousands of hands of solitaire. In retirement, he enjoyed perfecting his golf game, reading, visiting his family and spending time with friends at the casino.

Dexter is survived by his children, Jennifer Madden and her wife Russia Madden, Patrick Johnson and his wife Chelsea Johnson and Marcus Johnson; his sister, Brenda Bjorklund and her husband Tim Bjorklund and brother, Brian Johnson and his wife Laurie Johnson; grandchildren, Cameron and Iris Johnson; and nine nieces and nephews.

A open house Celebration of Life will be held on July 28, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. at 45816 199th St in Arlington, South Dakota.
