Obituary For Donna C. Davis

Donna Claire Davis, 83, was called home to be with her Lord on November 9, 2024. It is awesome to know that she is now reunited with her husband, son and all of her other loved ones who have gone before her.

Donna was born to S.L. and Loretta Wendling on August 14, 1941. Raised and schooled in Hoven, South Dakota until the age of 13. In 1954 her family relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota. She attended Saint John’s School and the Cathedral High School.

God was always first in her life, but when she met her husband to be, he was never far from that first place in her heart.

Mom and Dad eloped on July 9, 1957. Then immediately ran off to California. It didn’t take long before they came back home. (Probably when they thought her dad had cooled off!)

Mom and Dad were so delighted when David ll was born. On October 22, 1960, followed by Debbie, Dan and Denise.

Mother was very contented to be a wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home mom for 18 years. Then she went to work in Dad’s construction business. Everyone said she was a natural at drywall finishing. She loved painting the exterior and interior of houses too.

When Dad took over managing the Knights of Columbus Hall and bingo, mom was right there helping Dad with the catering and etc.

Mom was very happy when Dad retired in 1994. Then she had lots of time to devote to their 12 grandchildren, her sewing, flower arranging, making porcelain dolls and having large family gatherings.

In later years after Dad’s death mom and her remaining three children, grands and great grands got together every Sunday for lunch and Triominos. She spent lots of leisure time reading as well.

She is survived by daughters Debbie and Denise (Travis) and son Dave (Terri), twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Brother Chuck and sister Mary. Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son Daniel, parents, sisters Renee, Kathy (Gayle) and Bette Kaye and brother Cliff.

Always remember that I love you all so very very much. Please go to church often to thank Jesus for your good lives. Ok?
