Obituary For Doreen K. Cole

Doreen Kay Cole, 64, of Hill City, passed away on October 10, 2024, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on October 19, 1959, in Madison, SD to Vance and Dorthy (Sullivan) Cole.

Her family moved to Hill City, SD, in 1960, where she grew up, attended school, and raised her family. Doreen worked at various cafes over the years as a waitress. She was a familiar face to many, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking, and rock collecting.

Survivors include two sons, Shaun Cole and Cody Straw, both of Hill City, one daughter, Carrie Straw, one granddaughter, Lyra Straw, both of Box Elder. Three brothers, twin Dorn of Hermosa, Dick and Danny both of Columbus, Nebraska, one sister Deanna Kennedy of Columbia Falls, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vance and Dorthy, three brothers, Dalton, Doug, and Dennis, and one sister Donna Chute.

A celebration of life will be held at the Hill City Center on Sunday, October 27, at 11:00 am. Everyone is welcome to join.
