Obituary For Edith E Neiss
Edith Eloise Neiss, 96, Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Peaceful Pines Senior Living.
Born July 10, 1928 in Murdo SD to Dell and Bernice (Figert) Kinsley. She graduated from Todd County High School in 1946. This is where she met
her future husband and lifelong companion, Calvin Neiss. They were married February 7, 1948 in Rosebud SD.
Calvin was an ammunition inspector which required relocation to many locations including Igloo, France, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Washington
State, Illinois, Nebraska and eventually Rapid City, South Dakota where they called home since 1975.
Edith loved to play cards with her ladies’ groups, and she volunteered over 1000 hours at Hospice and Birthright and kept busy with her love of sewing and needle crafts! Two of her greatest loves was Saint Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church and raising her family. She maintained the church's prayer chain for many years, as well as assisted with the funeral dinners. Her chocolate cake was a standard dish of choice!
Edith is survived by her children Jaundel (Robert) Maupin, Dubuque, IA, Barbara Rowland, Rapid City, SD, Diane Belk, Clinton, IA, Judy (Bill) Bergman, Phoenix, AZ, Rena (Tom) Leite, Rapid City, SD. Grandchildren, Yvette, Tony, Jennifer, Mike, Melissa, Josh, Eric, Amy, Jessica, April, Miranda, and Zachary. Great Grandchildren, Jessica, Tamara, Kaylee, James, Will, Addison, Chandler, Amber, Devon, Zane, Ian, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Logan, Jaxson, Ryan, Corbin, Allison, Mackenzie, Hannah, Jordyn, Lauren, Calvin, and Great-Great Grandchildren, Felicity, Harley, and Troy.
Grandma always had the best toys, games and cowboy cookies which made their home the place of choice with warmth and love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Mavis, Mildred, Antha, Berdell, and Wanda, Three sons-in-law and a grandson.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Saint Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church to assist those in need.
The family would like to extend a loving thank-you to the staff at Peaceful Pines Senior Living that have cared for Mom these past twenty months. They treated her with kindness, love, gentleness, and compassion. We will be forever grateful.
In the throes of dementia, Mom would often call out looking for Dad. Can you imagine the reunion they are having now? We love you!
