Obituary For Edna Alice Taylor

Edna Alice Taylor, 93, Rapid City, died July 9, 2019 at the Norton Guest House. She was born to Ed and Agnes (Thein) May on October 22, 1925. She had two sisters, Margaret Simons of White Owl, D and Clara West of California and one brother, Joe May of Farmingdale, SD. Edna grew up on a ranch near Plainview, SD. She went to high school in Sturgis but graduated from Rapid City High School. Her family moved to Farmingdale in 1943. Edna married Don Taylor on November 16, 1944 and they lived on the Earl Taylor Ranch at Farmingdale and then in 1945 they moved to the Scenic area and lived on Hart Table. There they raised three children, Chauncey Taylor, Shirley Johnson and Eddie Taylor. She enjoyed her grandkids very much and tried to spend a lot of time with them. Grandkids include: Shane (Rachel) Taylor, Brent (Deana) Taylor, Pam (David) Smith, Todd (Kim) Taylor, Joe (Misty) Taylor, Dawn (Dan) Hilgenkamp, Lisa Johnson, Scott (Gail) Johnson, Tiffani (Tyler) Robertson, Tina (Tim) Stuen and Teoni Taylor as well as 23 great grandkids. Edna has spent the last 9 years at the Norton Guest House with Donna and David Norton. She is preceded in death by her husband Donnie Taylor, son Chauncey Taylor, her parents Agnes and Ed May, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Archie) Johnson, New Underwood; her son Eddie (Judy) Taylor, Box Elder; 11 grandkids, 23 great grandkids as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to Regional Health Home Plus Hospice or YFS Girls Incorporated in Edna’s memory.
