Obituary For Faith M. McDevitt
Faith Mary (Flynn) McDevitt, 93, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on August 3, 2024 in Rapid
City after a short illness.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to John Francis Flynn and Julia Loretta Bernesky on April 2,
1931. She graduated from G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre in 1949. She worked
as a clerk/typist for the FBI, CIA, and Eisenhower White House in the 1950’s, as a school
cafeteria manager and a secretary in the 1970’s and 1980’s, and then as a church rectory
cook/housekeeper in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. She met her husband, William Joseph
McDevitt Jr., a Special Agent, while working for the FBI in Washington DC. After leaving
Wilkes-Barre, she resided in Washington DC, Whittier CA, New York NY, Washington Crossing
PA, Holderness NH, and Henderson NV, before Rapid City SD.
Faith is survived by her only child, William Joseph McDevitt III, and daughter-in-law Teresa Kay
(Wilson) McDevitt, of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren Jill Patricia (McDevitt) Wurst of Portland OR,
William Joseph McDevitt of Henderson NV, and James Patrick McDevitt of Las Vegas NV,
great-grandchild Jessica Ryann McDevitt of Henderson, NV, and sister Nancy Kathleen (Flynn)
Corbitt of North Palm Beach, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and half-brother John Joseph Flynn.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00am, Saturday August 24th, 2024 at the Cathedral of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City with the Very Reverend Brian Christiansen officiating. A
memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, September 19th, 2024 at St. Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson, NV with the Reverend John Asselone officiating.
Interment will occur at 10:00am, Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at St. Aloysius New Cemetery
in Pottstown, PA alongside her husband.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at

Monument Health, the Village at Skyline Pines, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for their great help in this trying time.
