Obituary For Florence H. Koopman

Mrs. Florence Koopman, age 96, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Sunday, December 1st, 2024.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Koopman will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

During her life Florence fulfilled many roles - loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. was a real estate agent, secretary and bookkeeper. She had many hobbies including bird watching, especially hummingbirds, painting, quilting and sewing with her grandchildren, target practice, research genealogy, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, and harmonic voices; she loved to travel and explore the outdoors with family and friends. Her travels took her all across the country and the globe, but her favorite was South Dakota where she grew up, got married and started her family. She lived and worked in Colorado, Japan, Thailand, New Mexico, Mississippi and Georgia. She is a breast cancer survivor and was active in many groups and organizations. Not to mention she discovered a rare type of granite in the mountains of New Mexico; specimens were donated to the Smithsonian Institute and Museums all across the world.

Mrs. Koopman is survived by her daughter, Nona Luth (Rick), two sons; Paul Koopman and Steven Koopman (Susan), her grandchildren; Kathryn Jones (Tyler), Emily Koopman, Christian Koopman (Tara), and Olivia Koopman, and her great-grandchild, Presley Koopman. Many other nieces, nephews, and friends survive also.

Mrs. Koopman is preceded in death by her beloved husband; Mr. Francis Koopman, her parents; Melvin and Edith Kambak, and her sisters Mary Gabert, Violet Kambak, and Arlene Conrad.
