Obituary For Gerald \'Jerry\' Eugene Beckman

Gerald Eugene ‘Jerry’ Beckman, 74, Black Hawk, died Wednesday July 8, 2020 at home. He was born in Miles City, Montana on May 20, 1946 to George and Margaret (Hansen) Beckman. He went to school in Rhame, ND and graduating from the 8th grade. He met Mary Jo Root and they were married in Sturgis on July 31, 1966. He started his own business Carroll’s Appliance which he operated for 52 years. Jerry was a race car driver, racing at Black Hills Speedway from 1972 to 1979. He held records for years. He was a Deacon of Living Word Church and he lived a full and wonderful life. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary Jo; his children, Renee (Beckman) Mayes; Bobby Beckman and Heather (Beckman) Jolley; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Fischer and Shirley Mohr. He is preceded in death by his father, George Beckman, his mother, Margaret Hansen and his step-father Henry (Hank) Hansen.
