Obituary For Imogene G. Goodshot

Imogene Good Shot was born on June 11th, 1969, to Alma and Carl Good Shot and was one of seven siblings. Imogene Good Shot made her journey to the spirit world on May, 28, 2024, at the age of 54. She spent her childhood on the Pine Ridge Reservation with family then moved to Rapid City, SD in 1986, to receive supports from Black Hills Works.

Imogene worked on a custodial crew at Ellsworth Airforce Base, did contract work at Black Hills Works Industries which included a greenhouse. In 2002, Imogene started working in the Black Hills Works kitchen. She really enjoyed working with her friends and seeing many more friends during lunch.

Imogene participated in various activities that provided support for her community of Rapid City. She especially loved participating in the MOM Prom that supported Love Inc.

Imogene touched many lives with her warm and outgoing personality. Her smiles, laugh, and hugs were memorable. Imogene enjoyed life and never turned down opportunities to socialize and make friends. Imogene participated in the Lutheran bible studies and attended local churches.

Imogene loved sports. She played several Special Olympics sports on a regular basis over the years and made many friends. Imogene was proud of the many medals and trophies she won for her efforts in Special Olympics.

Imogene’s native culture was important to her and had many Native American friends. She loved going to Pow Wows. Imogene participated in fancy shawl dance many years. She also loved and admired Native American art and music.

In 1999, Imogene was one of four winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award for the Black Hills Works annual Gala. This award recognized Imogene’s years of outstanding achievement in life.

Imogene was able to enjoy going on a couple of trips with her close friends. In 2014, she went on a Disney Cruise and had fond memories from that trip and talked of them for years. Imogene was also able to go on a trip to Las Vegas with friends to see professional rodeos.

Imogene will be greatly missed.
