Obituary For Jacob K Roth

Jacob Karl Roth was born on August 23, 1940 to George and Nellie Roth in New Underwood, SD.

Jacob passed away on January 10, 2023, following a battle with cancer that he sadly could not win. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy (Julia), brother Cole Roth of Rapid City, brother Alfred & Rosemary Roth of Sturgis, SD, sister Nora Roth of Rapid City, sister Norma & Nick Simon of Atkinson, IL, daughter Pamela Schmitz of Tremonton, UT, son Tim & Wendy Roth of Rapid City. He also leaves behind granddaughter Samantha Cleveland of Brigham, UT, grandchild Sapphire (Kylie) Roth of Santa Cruz, CA, and three great-grandsons Ryan, Jadeyn, and Jesse.

Jake was a member of Local 1250 Electrical Union, and had just received his 60 year pin; he was also a member of several bowling leagues. He loved hunting and fishing and could always be found taking care of his little piece of nature.

65 plus years ago, my family got a new paperboy. I thought, “what a cute guy that is”, and the only way that I could get his attention was by throwing rocks at him. And guess what? It finally worked. Now after 61 years of marriage, he has left this world, but he left so many great memories behind. He has given me so much in our life together, with one of our biggest blessings being our two children, Pam and Tim.

He was a great family man and enjoyed life. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his dad and father-in-law, and they always came back with a good story or two to tell. As Tim got older, he was his dad’s hunting buddy for many years. Tim always called him his “go-to-guy”; if he had a problem, Dad could fix it; and 99 % of the time, he did. His daughter was his pride and joy, and he loved traveling to Utah after she got married. He loved going places, seeing the sights and was always up for a good picnic with Sam and the great-grandkids.

So, today, let us honor his life, and know he is looking down on all his family, friends, and – of course – his bowling buddies, and wishing everyone all the best.

Sorry to hear that he is no longer with us. He was a neighbor when I was growing up Always got along with Jacob. Knew that he bowled but never did have a chance to bowl with him. I did bowl with his son Tim for a few years. Great guy, just like his dad. He comes from a good family and will be missed. Cancer takes away too many good people. Condolences to the family. - Posted by grayle Goodrich on January 18, 2023
