Obituary For James Jay Feller
James “Jay” Feller, 66, Rapid City, died, Sunday June 25, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Jay grew up on a farm near Oyens, Iowa. He attended St. Catherine’s grade school in Oyens and graduated from Central High School in LeMars, Iowa. He joined the United States Air Force after leaving school. He was proud to serve his country for the next twenty years. He was very proud to be a member of the Strategic Air Command 28th Bomb Wing. Jay received many awards during his career, including a Purple Heart for wounds received in Vietnam. Jay retired from Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1977.He and his family moved to Sioux Falls, SD to be near parents and family. After arriving there, he graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Then became a postal employee and retired once more in 1997. When not traveling he resided in Rapid City, SD. He loved his family, and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with them. He was an avid star gazer, and passed on his interest in astrology to an entire younger generation. He is much loved and will be greatly missed.Jay is survived by his wife, Joan Feller, Rapid City, one son James Feller and wife Tammy, Burnsville, MN, three daughters, Lisa Breon and husband Greg, Plainfield, IL, Linda Lindgren, Sioux Falls, SD, and Leslie Lingscheit and husband Ron, Braham, MN, one son-in-law David Ashlock, Alvin, TX, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, six brothers, Tom Feller and wife Joan, Aurora, CO, Ralph Feller and wife Darlene, LaMars, IA, Paul Feller and wife Donna, Aurora, CO, Karl Feller and wife Marlis, Aurora, CO, Dennis Feller and wife Sheryl, Rapid City, and Rick Feller and wife Bev, Broken Arrow, OK, two sisters, Mary Jo George and companion Ray Forman, Loveland, CO, and Kathy Chors and husband Chip, Tulsa, OK.He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Lorie Ashlock, and two brothers Pete Feller and Larry Feller.
