James Jon Jerred, 61 of Rapid City, SD died on February 10, 2022. James (Jim) Jon Jerred, 61, was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Jon and Mae Jerred on November 21, 1960. Growing up in the Rapid City/Box Elder area. Attending the Douglas School District. On August 8, 1981, at the age of 20, Jim married the love of his life, Sandy (Mantei) Rieb, age 22. Of this marriage, they were blessed with 4 beautiful daughters, Christine, Janine, Nara and Daneda. Family was of utmost importance to him.. Over the 41 years together, Jim and Sandy shared many adventures, high and low, just to have discovered…. “We’re All In the Same Boat” Our “Cowboy”.…”One of a Kind”…. was a deeply loved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Jim loved sharing many stories of his adventures and mischievous expeditions, throughout traveling many states, only to have returned to….The Black Hills of South Dakota. Returning to his roots, fishing….(wouldn’t eat fish), camping, “tubing”….(couldn’t swim), hiking, fossil/rock hunting, star gazing and many other interests. A few of his favorite places of reflection, were Sheridan Lake, Curlew Lake as well as growing up on his grandparents ranch, (Jim and Sylvia Ferguson) north of New Underwood, South Dakota. Jim leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Sandy Jerred, Rapid City, SD; Daughters, Chris (Lyle) Wade, Rapid City, SD, Daneda Jerred, Rapid City, SD; Son-in-Law, Tom Dunbar, Gillette, WY; Grandchildren, Stefan Rieb, Rapid City, SD, Damian Wade, Rapid City, SD, Henry Overturf, Gillette, WY, Eric Cox, Gillette, WY, Austin Dunbar, Gillette, WY, Sydney Jerred, Rapid City, SD, and Summer Jerred, Rapid City, SD; Siblings, Lorie Maples, Rapid City, SD, Jeff (Pam) Jerred, Box Elder, SD, and Judy (Clark) Jerred, Pipestone, MN and several Nephews and Nieces. Jim was preceded in death by 2 Daughters, Nara Marie Jerred, who passed away in 1981 at the age of 4 hours and Janine Lynn Dunbar who passed away in 2019 at the age of 39; his Mother, Mae Jerred, who passed away in 1985 at the age of 44 and his Father, Jon J Jerred, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 65; his Grandparents, Worden Jerred ,of AZ, who passed away in 1973 at the age of 73, Frances Jerred, of AZ. who passed away in 1977 at the age of 84, James Ferguson, of New Underwood, SD, who passed away in 1989 at the age of 76 and Sylvia Ferguson, of New Underwood, SD, who passed away in 1994 at the age of 75 and 2 Nephews, Jetto Rezac, of Rapid City, SD, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 27 and Jeffrey Jerred, Jr. of Box Elder, SD, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 26. Jim loved life, and was a warm, kind caring soul! Loved by many and Loved many! Will be missed by all!
