Obituary For Janet C. Peters

Janet Colleen (Skinner) Peters of Rapid City died September, 16th 2017 at the age of 73 at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was born June 22, 1944 in Rapid City, SD to George Francis Skinner and LaVona (Foster) Skinner. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1962. While attending high school she received her Civil Air Patrol certificate. After graduation she attended beauty school. In 1963 she received her beauticians license from Greene\'s School of Beauty Culture in Rapid City, SD.

While working in Pierre as a hair dresser she met the love of her life, Alvin \"Butch\" Peters. \"He was driving a 1962 Impala with beautiful sounding pipes\" and he offered to give her and her friend a ride.

On May 16th 1964 she and Butch were united in marriage in Rapid City, SD at Atonement Lutheran Church. To this union 3 children were born. In 1965 twin girls, Cathy (Simmons) Peters and Colleen (Escott) Peters and in 1977 their son Jason Peters was born.

Her hobbies included car shows, she was a long time member of the Dakota Rod & Classics Car Club, fishing, crocheting, gardening, bird watching, and attending rodeo, and little league baseball games.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Alvin \"Butch\" Peters, Rapid City; her 2 daughters Cathy Simmons, Rapid City; Colleen Escott, Sturgis; a son Jason (Justina) Peters, Rapid City; 6 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; and her brother Donald (Florence) Skinner, Rapid City

She is proceeded in death by her parents, George Francis Skinner and LaVona Irene (Foster) Skinner, and one son-in-law, Rod Simmons.

A memorial has been established and can be mailed to 512 37th Street, Rapid City, SD 57702.
