Obituary For Janet W. Hurley

Janet W. Hurley, 85, Black Hawk died at Golden Livingcenter Black Hills, Wednesday April 23, 2008. She was born in Wenatchee, WA, daughter of Florence and John Van Hoosen. When her father died, her mother moved to Everett, WA where they remained until Janet graduated from high school. In 1942 she moved to Seattle where she studied commercial art under Edwin Burnley at Edison Vocational School. In 1944 she married Thomas P. Hurley and became a military wife until 1961, at which time the couple retired at Wichita Falls, TX. Janet was a long time member of the Black Hills Writers Group and a charter member of the local chapter of the National Ostomy Assn. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Thomas P. Hurley, Oct. 11, 2002. She is survived by her step-daughter, Madelon Quillan, Studio City, CA; grandson Michael Craig Gaier, CA and great granddaughter Brittany Gaier.
