Obituary For Jason Allen Kiehn
Jason Allen Kiehn, Resident of Rapid City, SD, Jason Allen Kiehn, passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2025, at the age of 39. Jason was born on March 20, 1985, in Gillette, WY, to Debra Kiehn and two years later he was joined by his sister, Sara. As a toddler, Jason found a passion for working in the auto-body business with his stepfather, Tom Phelps; helping around the shop and sanding on cars, it was in his blood. Jason attended school in Gillette, and in 1994 he moved with his mother and sister to Rapid City, SD. There he attended school and later entered the Box Elder Job Corps, where he earned his GED and learned the trade of Masonry. Jason met Ashley Mueller in 2004, they were married in 2010 and later divorced. In 2006 Jason and Ashley moved to Castle Rock, CO, where he opened his own masonry business, but eventually returned to his passion in the auto body industry. On March 17, 2009, they welcomed their first child, Cody, and on December 31, 2013, their daughter, Raina, was born. Jason and his family moved back to Rapid City, to be closer to his mother, stepfather Nathan, and sister. Jason developed a very close relationship with Nathan, as they shared an interest in working on vehicles together. Jason became a 5-star certified auto body technician and worked for the John Elway Collision Center in Denver, CO, where he earned the 2014 employee of the year. He also worked for Denny Menholt Rapid Chevrolet Auto Body and Liberty Motors Auto Body. Jason enjoyed working on his Dodge Cummins diesel pickup and restoring his 1979 Camero. What Jason cherished most were Cody and Raina “Princess”, they were the love of his life. Jason loved the role of being a father and the wonderful father he was.
Those who met Jason at heaven’s door were his grandparents, Dowart and Sue Kiehn, and grandfather, Gene Barber.
Jason is survived by his children, Cody and Raina; parents, Debra and Nathan Cole; Father, Don (Tammy) Barber; sisters, Sara (Jerod) Rommel, Angela Cole, Allison Cole; brother, Austin Cole; Uncles, Mike (Mary) Kiehn, and Calvin Kiehn; Aunt, Connie Kiehn; and several nieces and nephews.
There is a memorial for Jason’s children; Cody(15), and Raina(11), established at Black Hills Federal Credit Union
