Obituary For Jeffery Damon Bordeaux
Jeffery Bordeaux of Rapid City, crossed into the Spirit World on August 25, 2017. He was born to Mary Louise (Bordeaux) Brown Wolf-Clarke and Richard “Ricky” Yankton on April 15, 1978 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He grew up in north Rapid City and attended the Rapid City Club for Boys in his youth. He had a passion for martial arts and studying and excelling in karate. Jeffery was raised traditionally and was a Pipe Carrier, striving to live by the seven virtues of the Lakota. He was also a Christian and was often seen with his Bible in hand.
He overcame a major life adversity, having served time in the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons System. While incarcerated, he achieved certifications in computers, calisthenics and life skills in the life of Christ. Jeffery witnessed first-hand the disparities in treatment of Native American prisoners and began his life as an advocate. After his release, Jeffery became a voice for the homeless native population of Rapid City as both a friend and advocate. He was often seen walking along the bike path checking on their welfare. His generosity and compassion was also evident through the food and assistance he provided to the homeless population he served. At the time of his death, he was enrolled at Western South Dakota VoTech in the computer science degree program. He was also a very talented carpenter.
Jeffery was a good role model for all of his nieces and nephews. He made it his responsibility to teach them the ways, always incorporating the Lakota beliefs, making sure everyone knew their constitutional rights, the treaties, and explaining to them the sacredness of being Lakota.
He is survived by his children, Damon Bordeaux of Pueblo, Co, Cyphris Ghost of Kyle, SD; Siblings, Jason Bordeaux of Rapid City, Chanda Bordeaux of Rapid City, Richard Yankton of Pine Ridge, SD, Judy Brown Wolf of Pierre, SD, and Debbie Rowe of Billings, MT.
