Obituary For Jeffrey M. 'Jeff' Pansch

Jeffry M. Pansch passed from this earth on June 11, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. At a young age, Jeff and his siblings were orphaned by a house fire and were raised by Jeff’s older sister Pat and her husband Jim Boerger on their farm in Milbank, SD. Upon graduation from Milbank High School in the early seventies, Jeff enlisted in the US Army, serving his country in Germany. Upon returning home, Jeff was employed at the local Walmart.

In the early nineties Jeff fulfilled his lifelong goal to live in the Black Hills. The area provided Jeff many adventures including; hunting big game, fishing and exploring the Black Hills for gold. Jeff spent many years working for the City of Rapid City in several roles, eventually working in the Parks Department, where he enjoyed caring for all of Canyon Lake and many of the formal gardens throughout the city.

After his retirement, Jeff met and married “the Sweetest Woman on Earth,” Norma. Together they traveled, camped and spent time renovating their home, including Jeff’s stained-glass workshop where he pursued his passion for creating stained glass pieces for friends, family, as well as, homes, churches, and businesses throughout the Black Hills and beyond.

Jeff was an independent sort, pursuing hobbies and enjoying the great outdoors at every opportunity. He made friends easily and was fiercely dedicated to each one. They will cherish the memories of competitive game nights, hunting, fishing, and metal detecting, as well as, panning for gold all over the Black Hills.

Jeff was dedicated to the Lord and his longtime church, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. His absence leaves a void in many lives. His smile and unique personality will be missed by all who knew him. Jeff is survived by his wife Norma; brothers and sisters: Dan (Kristi) Pansch, Lorna Poel, Linda Drummond, Marge (Tony) Van Lith Thomas (Lisa) Boerger, and Bradley (Geni) Boerger. Jeff is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Boerger and his brother Bob Pansch.

I'm missing you brother. We had a lot of great times together. As a Harley rider, I always gave Jeff sh** about riding a Honda, and he laughed it off with his standard sense of humor. We'll see you in the promised land brother. Love you. -Rick Volk

Not sure what words are enough when we lose someone as close as Jeff. Jeff was one of the five kids that lived on the farm with sister Pat and Jim. We all thought of each others as brothers and sisters. Jeff was one of the most caring people you could know. As stated in the obituary, he was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved. It was said that if you couldn't get along with Jeff you couldn't get along with anyone. His family was blessed that in recent years with more free time we have had the opportunity to reconnect and do many things. We also are very thankful for the love and care that Norma has given Jeff and the happiness that she gave him. Rest in peace, Dan and Kristi Pansch
