Obituary For JoAnn Peterson

JoAnn “Jo” Peterson, 79, of Rapid City, passed away on October 5, 2021 at Monument Health in Rapid City, SD. JoAnn was born March 11, 1942 in Butte, Montana to Eddie and Thelma (Sheriff) Fye. She was welcomed by John, Edmond, thirteen years later her youngest brother Larry joined the family. He and JoAnn shared a birthday. The family moved to Presho, SD and later to Piedmont, SD. JoAnn graduated from Piedmont High in 1960. JoAnn had numerous jobs throughout her life. She was a switchboard operator, a stocker for Old Home, a waitress at the Elks Lodge, and a stocker for Sears Roebuck and Company. JoAnn married Harley C. Peterson, March 30, 1970. JoAnn and Harley had a big blended family. Between these two they had eight active, strong-willed individuals. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Thelma Fye, her brother John, her husband Harley, three grandchildren Jamie Lynn, Rebecca, and Brian, a son-in-law Darrell Flippo and her sister-in-law Nell. JoAnn is survived by children Scott Peterson (Loren Chumley) Nashville, TN, Robin Peterson (Terri) Fort Myers, FL, Allen Peterson Black Hawk, SD, Brian Peterson (Heidi) Black Hawk, SD, Kimmie Bodnar (Jeff) Rapid City, SD, Colleen Flippo, Overgaard, AZ, Barb Wolf (Bob) Ballston Spa, NY, Kathy Sherwood (Harvey) Apache Junction, AZ, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
