Obituary For Johnna Grass

RAPID CITY | Johnna B. Grass, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at Regional Health’s Hospice House.Johnna was born July 12, 1936, in Rapid City to John Harvey and Guelda Mae (Johnson) George. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1954 where she was involved in Pen & Quill and was Ms. Bobby Sox.She attended University of South Dakota where she received a major in English and a minor in Music.Johnna married Arlo L. Grass on May 30, 1958, in Rapid City at First Presbyterian Church and received her college diploma a day later.They lived in Rapid City where she was a volunteer at Black Hills Workshop with The Service League, a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church, a tri high Y leader and an avid Cobbler supporter.Johnna was a beautiful pianist and enjoyed spending time with her many friends at lunch and shopping.She is survived by a son, Steve Grass, Spearfish, a daughter, Susan L. Barnes, Rapid City; 6 grandchildren, Jim Grass, Erin (Jesse) Albrecht, J.T. (Kara) Barnes, Miranda Barnes, Christina Grass; 6 great grandchildren, Addison, Taylor, Kayden, Alivia, Benjamin, Ellis and a sister, Jeni (Jim) George-Deis, Sun Lakes, AZ.She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo on Jan. 13, 1994, her parents, and a brother, Tom George.
