Obituary For Joyce L. Swinehart
Joyce Larane Swinehart, 69, of Box Elder, South Dakota passed away on October 31, 2024 in Box Elder, South Dakota.
Joyce was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Carol and Morris Phelps on June 1, 1955 with her twin sister Janet. She went to school in Rapid City, South Dakota. She worked for fifty years as a housekeeper for Howard Johnson Hotel, Ramkota Hotel and the Laquinta Inn. She was awarded employee of the year, three citizen awards from the state and had the privilege of cleaning president George W. Bush’s hotel room when he visited the area.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn Swinehart, twin sister Janet Carpenter, older sister Christine (Robert) Cox. Nephews Michael (Suzi) Phelps of Arizona, Jeff Baily of Colorado. Nieces Jeneffer (Clint) Smith of Montana and Amanda Carpenter of South Dakota. Great-nephews Matthew Smith of Montana and Malcolm Carpenter of South Dakota. Great-nieces Talon (Jordan) Jewell of Arizona and Maddie Smith of Montana. Great-great-niece Hadley Mae Jewell of Arizona and Great-great-nephew Boston Jewell of Arizona.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
