Obituary For Karl I. 'KC' Castor

Karl Ivar Castor passed away Saturday August 17, at his home in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Born October 3, 1946 to Karl and Viola Castor in S. Sioux City Nebraska. He grew up in S. Sioux City and was a skilled athlete through high school playing football, baseball and track and through his first year of college with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

In 1979 he came to Rapid City and became the CEO of Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery,
retiring December 2004.

Karl was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was president for 25 years of Pheasants Forever, Chapter 87. He had a passion for mentoring youth as one of the founders of SD Youth Hunting Adventures. He was also a longtime supporter of Post 22 American Legion Baseball.

He is survived by his wife Lisa and their children Katie (Bill) Brisichella Martin,
Molly (Reid) Cover, Paul (Ellen) Stratch, and Matt Stratch, and grandchildren, Nicholas Brisichella, Noah and Jenna Cover, Christian, Jordan and Mackenzie Stratch

He was preceded in death by his brother Marty Castor.
He is survived by sisters, Charlotte Cart, Jeanie (Joe) Logan, and brothers, David (Kim) Castor, John Castor, and sister-in-law Linda Castor.
His life was a blessing to us all, full of love, kindness and grace.
Though he is no longer with us, his memory we’ll forever embrace.
He will be forever in our hearts, today and tomorrow.

    My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and the family. I have spent many hours volunteering with KC for Pheasants Forever and SD Youth Hunting. I will forever be grateful for the friendship we had.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Andy and I always enjoyed visiting with KC when he was out to pick apples for the applesause. We so enjoyed the applesause he shared with us. Best ever. Love, Bettie

    KC was a wonderful person and will be so sorely missed. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him and his love of the outdoors was contagious. He most certainly led a "life well lived". Rest in Peace KC.
