Obituary For Katherine H. Davis

Katherine H. Davis, a resident of Rapid City, South Dakota and cherished wife, mother, grandmother passed away in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family on Thursday, November 16. Born on July 22, 1952, in Cando, North Dakota, Kathy was 71 years old. Kathy was a private soul who enjoyed a simple life. Her home was her sanctuary. She found comfort and contentment within her close-knit circle of friends and family. Among the things that Kathy enjoyed most was spending time in her greenhouse where she would carefully cultivate her beautiful collection of plants and flowers. Her display of this passion was often found in bountiful planters that lined her property. Kathy’s compassion extended beyond plants, encompassing a deep affection for all creatures. Kathy was an ardent animal lover, offering sanctuary and kindness to every critter that found its way to her doorstep. From the birds that frequented her seed-filled feeders, the deer, rabbits, and squirrels that graced her gardens for hand-tossed feed to the neighborhood strays and feral cats, she welcomed them all with open arms and a heart overflowing with empathy. Kathy will be remembered for her strong and feisty temperament, her green-fingered talents, her devotion to her family and furry companions, and the everlasting impact she made on those who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the vibrant blooms of her garden, the serenity of the outdoors, and the enduring love she shared with all. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Raymond Wood and Mildred LaFaye Peterson Wood, and her sister, Paulette Hamdan. She is survived by her devoted Husband, Orvil L. Davis, her children, Brent Ingersoll, Bradley Ingersoll and Lisa Forsberg Slagle, as well as her stepchildren JoLyn “Joey” Bonde, Nicole “Nikki” Fink and Keith Davis. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Louetta Wood, Karen Peters, Mike Wood, Wendy Haugen, Ruby Fritel, Linda Nelson and Beverly Juma, as well as 6 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. In reverence to Kathy’s inclination for a quiet and simple life, an intimate gathering to celebrate Kathy’s life will take place in the spring. The date and location will be announced at a future date. May Kathy rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility she so effortlessly embraced in this world.
