Obituary For Kathy D Layng

Kathy Delores Layng 62, of Rapid City Kathy took her heavenly Journey on Thursday, November 11th, 2021. She was an inspiration to us all. Kathy was born on July 26th 1959, to Willard, and Charlotte Madill Sammeli of Rapid City. Grateful to having shared her life was her husband, and her rock Jim Layng; Her children Terry, April and Lee Sammeli, and Jamie Layng. Kathy was an awesome Grandmother. She had eight wonderful grandchildren: Alex, Angel, Venas, Ryan, Joseph Lee, Anthony, Vincant and Miyah. Kathy leaves behind her mother, Charlotte Dunlap, 5 siblings; two sisters , Carla Tenold (Lester) and Angela Morgan (Martin) of Rapid City. also three brothers: Kevin Sammeli (Dori) Kirby Sammeli of San Antonio Tx, and Kelly Sammeli (Shelley) of Rapid City. Kathy lived her life to make others happy. She loved family and holidays spent together. Kathy spread Joy wherever she went. She could always make someone smile. She would give the shirt off of her back to help someone else. Kathy was employed for a number of years at Boyds Drug Mart in Bakken Park. She took great pride in her job. She loved her coworkers, and the customers she served. Everyone who knew Kathy, knew she was the most kind and generous person! She loved with her whole heart. She had a beautiful, pure soul. Kathy was a great momma., wife, auntie, sister and friend. She loved everyone as if they were family. Kathy was always willing to help anyone, at any time. She loved life and lived to the fullest. Even on the hardest days she always had a positive outlook and kept her head held high. She was so kind and loving no matter the circumstances, but Kathy also wouldn’t put up with any kind of nonsense, no matter who it was coming from. Kathy is the glue that holds this family together. She always kept us going. Kathy will forever hold a special place in our hearts. A celebration of life service will be held on Sat, December 4th 2021, at 12:00 pm at Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Rapid City. Pastor Dan Menifee will be officiating. She is preceded in Death by her step dad Dennis Dunlap, her sister Babby Brunson, and her brother Daniel Dunlap of Rapid City. Also two Son’s Dalton, and Sammy, and her Maternal Grandmother Mable Hartmen.
