Obituary For Kenneth G. 'Ken' Trusty

Kenneth ‘Ken’ Trusty was born July 29, 1944 to Gilbert Trusty and Inez Thurlow-Trusty, the second of five children.

He grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1962. Prior to graduation Ken began an apprenticeship at the Ford garage in Rapid City, South Dakota. After graduation he was hired full-time as a mechanic at the Ford garage. In 1966 Ken, was called upon by the government for military service in the army where he was sent to a NATO base in Freising, Germany. After his two years of military service Ken returned home to South Dakota and his position at the Ford garage where he put in 46 years of excellent service, retiring in 2008.

During the late 1960s and early 1970s Ken was involved in racing at the Black Hills Speedway. The only thing he loved as much was his family, NASCAR, and his trips to Deadwood. Ken was greatly loved by all who knew him.

Ken married Dianna Payne in 1965 to this union, three beautiful children were born. Barbara Trusty, Teresa (Jason) Davidson, and Bryan Trusty.

He is survived by his spouse of 59 years, three children and eight grandchildren, Kary and Shantel Jones, Lance (Connie) Bodden, Tyler (Shelby) Bodden, Cody (Alyssa) Davidson, Jacki Petry, Matt and Jacob Trusty and six great-grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his two sisters Berna Grover and Becky Fish as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Carol Forsell and Joe Trusty, parents -in- law Ralph and Shirley Payne and in-laws Bud Grover, Ronda Trusty, Larry Kapfenstein and Bruce Payne.
