Obituary For Lloyd Leonard Larrabee

Lloyd Leonard Larrabee, 72, passed away on 07/09/2024. Born on 02/04/1952 in Rapid City to Clevia and Chris Fire-Thunder, he was a devoted husband, veteran of the Vietnam era and a loving father. He left Pine Ridge South Dakota in his youth to join the US Army and was a part of the 82nd Airborne Division. After his time serving, he would pursue higher education and become a computer programmer and machinist, move to Colorado and settle down taking a wife after having a vision which called him there. After establishing that loving relationship he'd have a daughter and devote his time to caring for both wife and baby.

Lloyd was a man whose stoicism sheltered his own emotions, in his later years as he mellowed out, he'd often self-sacrifice for the greater good of others. His integrity, logic and good sense of humor were refreshing in a day and age of uncertainty. His compassion and kindness towards animals are reflected in the love and care he gave his pets. In his elderly years he took up an enjoyment of fixing things around the house, reading, DIY projects, sudoku and puzzles as well as racing and aerial dogfighting games on vintage video game systems.

Words cannot do justice to convey the sheer amount of unconditional love that was in this man's heart, his patience like that of a stone that will not yield for thousands of years. One of a kind.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Larrabee, wife Joyce Valdez, his sisters Eileen Krandall, Darlene Fire-Thunder, Gloria Fire-Thunder, sister in-law Helen Red-Feather, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members who will miss him dearly.

We find comfort in knowing that Lloyd's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
