Obituary For Lucille Marie Stoll

Lucille Heeren Stoll, died August 27, 2020 from natural causes. Lucy was born June 24, 1926 at Waubay, SD to Harry and Dena Heeren where she lived until high school graduation in 1944. She then moved to Minneapolis, working for Dayton Department Stores until switching to Foley Manufacturing to make canteens and cups for the US Marine Corps and bearings for military aircraft. In 1946, she moved to San Francisco, CA and worked for AT&T Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co as a long-distance operator - one of the first mobile/marine operators giving the daily weather forecasts to the ships along the coast. She transferred to Rapid City in 1952 to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone. Lucy married Rudolph (Rudy) C. Stoll of Piedmont, SD on March 13, 1954 where they continued to live. In 1983, Lucy retired from Northwestern Bell. She and Rudy traveled extensively after retirement. A member of the Piedmont Sewing Circle, Senior Citizens, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 311, she was also affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church, and Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her only child, Koburn (Koby) Stoll, his wife Julie, two grandchildren, Jean and Jacob, her sister Margaret Piel of Winfield, KS, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
