Obituary For Margaret McDaniels

Margaret McDaniels, 91, Rapid City, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Morning Star Assisted Living Center where she had resided for over six years.Margaret was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Boone County, Iowa, to Edwin and Ebba Linder. The family moved to South Dakota when she was a child. Margaret married Fred McDaniels on Jan. 16, 1937, in Rapid City. From this union they welcomed three children, Shirley 'Felecia', Larry and Sandy. They were married 59 years until Fred's death.Margaret was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. If you went to Margaret's for coffee, you would always get something delicious and sweet.She was a gentle, soft spoken, loveable woman and was very close to her siblings. She always loved to babysit her nieces and nephews and then their children.She is survived by two daughters, Shirley 'Felecia' Brassfield, Carmichael, Calif., and Sandy Rogerson, Rapid City; best friend and 'adopted daughter', Lyla Monello, Rapid City; six grandchildren, Vince French and Valerie Malarvie, both of Anchorage, Alaska, Troy (Judy) Ritter, Rapid City, David J. Ritter, Spearfish, and Charna and Andy Monello, Rapid City; several great-grandchildren; a great-great -granddaughter due in March 2011; and a sister, Sybil Savey, Florida. Her nieces, Judy Messer and Darlene Stido, were very close to Margaret as were the rest of her loving nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and son, Larry.
