Margarete (Greta) Boscarino, 92 of Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on April 16, 2021. She was born on February 20, 1929 to Julius Karl & Hildegard Rosa (Forster) Bucksch in Germany. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Margarete Married an American Soldier named Tony and was an outstanding Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Sister in Law and Grandmother. She was a spiritual born again believer who always prayed, enjoyed Bible studies and fellowship with friends and family.

As a child, Gretchen had a hurried escape out of Berlin as the Russians were moving in on one side while the Allied Forces were coming in on the other. In some ways she was happy that the fascist government she lived under was over. The loss of family possessions was sad, as they could only leave with what they could carry. She had a wonderful soprano voice in the church choir and in her earlier years was taught the violin by her uncle who was a violinist instructor, loved classical music and, she was to audition with the Berlin Opera House but, had to flee the city.

Greta learned her cooking talents from her Italian Mother in Law with whom she lived with upon arrival to the US. She was known for her Sense of Humor, Quick Comments and Hearty Laughter.

Following the war she met the soldier of her dreams who was guarding the local dance hall searching for concealed weapons. It was love at first sight. The romance was lasting and she was thrilled about her new life in America. She had political understanding and convinced her husband to change political parties and vote for Eisenhower.

Greta loved America and raised a family on the east coast, and later in early retirement years, her and her husband grew fond of South Dakota and built a home in Piedmont, and later moved to the Canyon Lake area.

She leaves behind family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her straight forward sincerity, generosity, commitment & enthusiasm for the Lord.
