Obituary For Marian K. Hawkinson

Marian Hawkinson will always be remembered by her lipstick and her leopard print. She was very talented at judging a quick horse and loved to speed in her red convertible, which wasn’t without the consequence of a station wagon with wood exterior. She was extremely talented in art and music with her favorite song being “As Time Goes By” from the movie, Casablanca . At the end of her life, she was blessed to be taken care of by a very special red head in a fox fur coat and many other wonderful caregivers, who are all greatly appreciated.

Marian worked as an insurance agent at several Quad City area agencies and in addition to that, had her real estate license, sold pianos locally, and taught piano lessons in the privacy of her home. She also worked at Moline High School in Moline, IL as an aid and for the Rapid City School System in Rapid City, SD for a time.

Marian met Jay Hawkinson of Coal Valley, IL and they were married on May 20th of 1983. Jay brought his two boys, Jay II and Justin, to be a part of the new family.

In 2010, Marian retired from United Insurance Counselors in Bettendorf, IA. Afterwards, she and Jay moved to Rapid City, SD to live near their daughter, Kristine, and her family.
