Obituary For Marlene J. Lindemann

Marlene Joyce Lindemann went to Heaven on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She is now singing with the angels and surrounded by her parents, aunts, uncles—so many loved ones and friends of hers to mention. She was a young 78 years old, who was diagnosed with Dementia Alzheimer’s about four and half years ago. She passed away peacefully and comfortably in her sleep at the Avantara Saint Cloud Memory Care, 302 St. Cloud Street, Rapid City (Star Village hill) around 8 a.m. on January 28th. Marlene was born on March 20, 1944, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to the late Art and Margaret Handley. She was married to Gary Garbin for a short time in the late 1960s, and then was married to Oscar Lindemann for nearly 30 years. She graduated from the Black Hills Beauty College in the early 1960s, working at a couple of beauty shops in Rapid City. She worked at the Walk-in Beauty Shop for many years until she owned her own beauty parlor and operated it out of her own home. Marlene was always busy working around the house styling hair for ladies or helping her parents clean various downtown businesses. Marlene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rapid City for over 40 years. She is survived by her one daughter Cyndi (Brian) Powell of Rapid City, SD; one sister Jean (James) Hartford; two brothers, Gary Handley and Dale Handley, all of Rapid City; two nieces, Kerri (Shawn) Gilbertson of Glendale, AZ and Jan (Chris) Meyer of Rapid City, SD; a nephew, Dean (Deb) Hartford of Black Hawk, SD; three grandson sons: Ryan (Shannon) Powell of Summerset, SD; Cole (CJ) Powell of Valley Springs, SD; Aaron (Brinley Olson-fiancée) of Rapid City, SD; and 11 great-grandchildren (biological and foster). We are so blessed to have had Marlene in our lives, and she will be truly missed by those who knew her. Her daughter Cyndi would like to thank the staff at Avantara Saint Cloud Memory Care for the care, compassion, and love they gave to her mother. The staff was absolutely wonderful and Marlene loved all of the staff. Mom, until we see each other again, all my love, Cyndi.
