Obituary For Mary Ann Hartinger
RAPID CITY | Mary Ann Hartinger, 75, passed away, May 18, 2013 Mary was born August 17, 1937, in Montrose to Shirley Dickenson and Frank Bies. She grew up in Montrose until the age of 13 when the family moved to Rapid City. Mary was married to Dwight Paulsen in 1957 and until his death in 1982. In 2002. She married her current husband, Jack Hartinger. Mary lived in Rapid City the majority of her life. Mary worked for 27 years at SCI-Control Data, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by 1 sister, Francis Shirley Halverson; her son: Steve (Pattie) Paulsen, her daughter Cynthia Bradstream (Jeff); Step daughters Jackie Layh (Craig); Vicki Kuntz; grandchildren, Jenifer Harris and Jamie (Bryan) Chapman; Scott and Matthew Paulsen, and great grandchildren Chandra and Nigel Harris. Mary was a treasured mother to her family. She was an outstanding cook and loved to entertain. She taught us all the true joy of the company of family through the comforts of food. We especially enjoyed cooking good Hawaiian food as many hands are needed to put the meal on the table. Homemade Wontons and Lumpia were favorites with egg drop soup. We will miss her kind counsel on our lives, we truly believed that she was the angel that God provided to get us through raising our families and life. Any place we went we looked for angels that represented how wonderful she was in our lives. Her house is full of those angels now but our favorite angel is no longer with us.Mary enjoyed travel, and went whenever she could to Hawaii to visit best friends Bob and Rose. She took each of her grandchildren separately to Hawaii, and showed each the wonders she found there. She also took her sister and Jack too. She enjoyed her crafts and decorating her home. She shared her talents with us all, and helped with advice as to how things would look best. She would research new techniques and include what she learned in her home and ours. She showed each of us by example how to love and be loved. Encouraged us to achieve and excel, we miss her.
