Mary Dianne (Authier) Chester passed away on July 6, 2022. She passed peacefully with her daughters by her side and surrounded by the love of all of her family. Mary was born in Pierre, SD to Oris and Dorothy Authier on July 12, 1945. She grew up on a farm NE of Vivian. Attending Country School and later graduating from Vivian High School in 1963. She married her lifelong partner, the love of her life and best friend, Max G. Chester on January 17, 1963. Max and Mary enjoyed almost 60 years working together and traveling. She loved baking, canning, gardening – especially springtime flower planting. She loved company, cocktails with friends and family and spending time with her husband. In her later years, she especially enjoyed RVing to Demming, NM and Yuma, AZ. Mary is survived by her spouse, Max; her daughters, Trudy (Kenneth) Hixon and Tina (Marty) Pfister; Grandchildren, Nathan Halse, Nicholas (Christina) Halse, Nolan Halse, Nychelle Halse, Austin Schwartz, Aidan Hein; Step Grandchildren, Ryan Embretson, Allen (Emily) Hixon, Karenmarie Hixon, Matt (Meredith) Pfister, Mandy (Eric) Rutter; numerous Great Grandchildren; Sister, Bernie (Don) Reinarz; Brothers, Tom (Marcia) Authier, Phil (Laurie) Authier, Paul Authier; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. Cards may be sent to 936 Field View Drive, Rapid City, SD 57701. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and care providers while in the Comfort Care Unit/Hospice Care at Monument Health Custer Hospital. You ALL were amazing, going above and beyond, for the care of our mom and support to the family. We would also like to thank Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home for honoring all of Mom’s last wishes.
