Obituary For Mary E. Potter
Mary Eileen Potter, 84, of Rapid City passed away on November 8th at the St. Martin’s nursing facility in Rapid City.
Mary was born in Mitchell, SD to Henry and Catherine Schmidt on September 2nd, 1940. She attended Lane High School and married Lloyd Potter on May 28th, 1967 in Mitchell SD. She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University with an education degree in 1970 and spent many years teaching at the Prairie View country school in the Agar SD school district.
Mary is survived by her children Jill Potter, L. D. Potter, and Andy Potter, her granddaughter Lilliana Potter, and her sister Margret Koenig. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Potter, her parents, Henry and Catherine Schmidt, and her two brothers Philip Schmidt and Tom Schmidt.
Visitation will be at 5:30pm Wednesday, November 13th followed by a prayer vigil at 6:30pm at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, November 14th at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
