Obituary For Melvin Robert Lehman

Melvin Lehman, 93, Rapid City, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 in Rapid City. He was born in Summit, SD to Robert and Minnie (Davis) Lehman on August 23, 1926. He graduated from Darcom Ammunition School. Melvin served in the US Military, in the US Navy, US Army and US Air Force and served his country during World War II, The Korean War and in the Vietnam War. He also worked for the Civil Service totaling 42 plus years for the US Military. He had received the following medals: WWII Victory Medal; Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal; American Area Campaign Medal; The Medal for Civilian Service in Vietnam; Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and State of South Dakota Certificate of Honor. Melvin married Chisato Akagi on December 7, 1978. He is survived by his wife Chisato; his daughter Yuri Lehman; granddaughters Naomi and Nikkita Hope and Jaydi Lehman-Bell; great grandchildren Zelda and Akira Hope; niece Janis Lehman-Taffe and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harry Lehman and his sister Debbie Herbert.
