Obituary For Michael D. 'Mikey' Surma

At 4:08 am on May 24, 1994 we welcomed into the world a little baby boy, who we named Michael Denny Surma. This little boy grew into a very compassionate, honorable, easy going, caring and loving young man we all came to affectionately adore as our “Mikey.”

With heavy hearts and swollen tears at 4:59 pm. on May 24, 2024 we sadly had to say goodbye to our best friend. He was the best Dad, son grandson, brother, cousin, nephew, and best friend anyone could ever ask for.

Mikey was true hearted, stubborn at times, and could argue anything, yet funny and charming at the same time. He never liked being sad. Probably why he always gave the biggest and best hugs. Mikey was curious about everything, so he believed in all things. His children were always his main concern, and they were his light. That light was bright for him whenever he would get lost, they helped him find his way.

At 30 years old, Mikey lived a couple of lifetimes, having travelled the world since birth, making friends everywhere he went, and going through many happy and sad experiences.

Not a lot of people knew, but Mikey’s dad and his uncle John were best friends. So be comforted that when he passed from this world to the spirit world, both his dad and his uncle were there to hold him, comfort him and guide him. Mikey is not alone, and he will forever be in our minds and in our hearts.

Mikey was preceded in death by his dad, Bastian Surma, his uncle Johnathan Odom, and his Grandma Debbie McDade. There are still so many here that will be missing him. Mary, his partner in life, his best friend and the mother of his 3 small children, daughter MarLee Jayne “Billy Bob Marlee,” son Mikey Jr “Lil Man, Bounam,” and little Melaine, “Baby Chucks,” and his Oma in Germany, Anne. His mother Nica Francine “Mama,” and his 2nd moms Auntie Sabrina “Bunny” and Auntie Carrie. baby brother Shaun and younger sisters Gabriella “Gabby” and Ainsley, as well as many uncles and aunts spread throughout the world. Numerous related and adopted cousins, to include Like brothers and sister, Derek, Christian, Ricky and Shawntae. His extended work family at Holsworth, and just too many friends to list individually.
