Obituary For Michael D Miller Sr

Michael David Miller Sr, that son of a gun, found his way out of trouble for the last time on Wednesday September 28th, 2022 in Rapid City, SD. He probably got you to agree to something you regret, but gave you that smile, some bullcrap story, and a roguish laugh and you went along with it anyway. Speaking of regret, he was not able to take his guitar on this journey which was a near constant companion for him. I’m sure he’ll convince someone to loan him a harp which he’ll tinker with until he gets it “running right” and fill heaven with the liveliest music it’s heard in a while.

Michael was born to mischief in Bremerton, Washington on December 29th, 1959. He enjoyed baseball and basketball in school and was also a championship baton twirler. He held jobs in many fields but was most gifted in all things mechanical. He kept many a car running with a little of this and that. He excelled at fixing things creatively and many of his solutions actually worked. He loved music, good food, dancing, and adventures. Through it all, he loved the Lord and for the last few years went by Pastor Mike, loving and reaching out to help those in difficult situations with the love & hope of Christ. He didn’t always do things by the book, but he genuinely loved God and his fellow man and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He is preceded in death by his parents Lois Juanita Taylor Miller and Robert Miller Sr, brother George James (Doug) Miller, and other beloved family and friends, who will be glad to see him again. He is survived by his sometime co-conspirators and siblings Sandra Lea Castelli, Robert Miller Jr, Peggiann Combs, Scott Allen Miller, Daniel Mark Miller, Rebecca Sue Brandt, Deena Kay Judge, Patricia Rae Ott, & James Johnson Miller 3rd. He loved the ladies & settled down with Terry Jeffers Miller. He leaves behind his children Tabitha Marie Miller, Tiffany Deone Martin, Michael David Miller Jr, Joshua Miller, and Robert Miller, all of whom he loved whole heartedly despite the mess he sometimes left them in. He married Joyce Hartman later in life & found a true companion and friend. You’ll find them both a bit down from the Pearly Gates welcoming others with crooked halos & rumpled wings. We’ll have to drink that last strawberry milkshake (or whatever beverage you shared) without him, but cheers to you Mike and blessings on your journey!
