Norma ‘Teri’ Therese Kieser, of Rapid City, South Dakota died on April 1, 2018 at the age of 70. She was born on January 1, 1948 in Cheyenne River, Eagle Butte, South Dakota to Cyril and Evelyn (Whitney) Benoist. Born and raised in Eagle Butte, she completed the 8th grade. She lived in the country on the ranch which her parents owned until 1970. They moved into Eagle Butte. She was thankful to have lights and running water.

At 28 years old, she was married and had her only child, Tracie Nichole Pretty Wessel. At 30 years old, Teri and her daughter relocated to Pierre, South Dakota. She began to attend The Untied Pentecostal Church. Her first pastor was Rev. Jack Davis. She received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost in January following her Baptism in Jesus Name in November. She lived in Pierre until 1996.

In 1996, she married Monty Kieser from Rapid City, South Dakota. They were married March 2, 1996 and resided in Rapid City as husband and wife. While living in Pierre, she learned how to play the guitar from Bill Stuwe and Mike Warkey. Her first song she learned to play was “This World’s Not my Home” and “Jesus on the Inside”. She enjoyed playing specials for services.

Teri also enjoyed playing her guitar for the senior citizens who lived in different nursing homes in the area. Brother Cliff and Sister Paula Mitchel helped her for nearly three years with her outreach to others. Teri had to stop her visits because of her own health.

Teri also taught Sunday School while living in Pierre and in Rapid City. She enjoyed working with children and teaching them music and about Jesus. She touched many young children’s lives who remember her dearly.

Teri continued her learning at the Career Learning Center of Rapid City, where she learned to enjoy reading. She also took computer and math classes.

She took care of her grandchildren during different time of their childhood. Her grandchildren learned about Jesus from their grandmother. She read the bible to them and they would sing songs about Jesus either in Monty and Teri’s home or in their trips in ‘the van’. Teri is thankful for Monty. He was love at first sight for her. She often commented on how he took care of her during their marriage. She was also thankful that he stuck by her during her years of illness.

She is survived by her Husband, Monty; Daughter, Tracie Nichole Petty-Wessel; Grandchildren, Mechiya Rose English, Japhia English, Sheraiah English, Rhinne Howe, Patrick ‘Hurah’ Halo Petty Wessel, and great grandchildren, Steven English (Japhia) and Hazel Lovely (Sheraiah).

She was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her siblings, Donna, Gail, Gary, Danny, Spring, and Teri.
